The Kind Kakapo Café in Queenstown has a fantastic reputation for fresh and tasty breakfast, lunch, snacks and the best coffee in the Wakatipu. We specialise in offering organic food using fresh, high quality, local ingredients with a traditional Māori flavour.

Cafe food served as a buffet — Opened in 2015, the Kind Kakapo Cafe is run by a local Queenstown couple, Jeremy and Megan Ellis who are passionate about the environmate. Kind Kakapo Cafe are proud to use sustainable business practices such as using biodegradable packaging such including go cups and lids, takeaway containers, serviettes and cutlery.

The inspiration for the name of our cafe is from one of the rarest parrots in the world that can only be found in New Zealand, the Kakapo bird. It's the world's heaviest parrot, possibly the oldest living bird and cannot fly. Watch this video to learn more about the Kakapo bird.
